Oliver Purnell is entering his fourth year as the men’s basketball coach for DePaul
This week the men’s basketball program at DePaul announced it’s non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2013-2014 season. DePaul will once again begin their season on campus at the McGrath-Phillips Arena, this is will be the fourth straight season that they have done so. They will also participate in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic in November.
In December the Blue Demons will once again do battle with a round of local teams as well as teams from other parts of the country. The Demons will play a total of nine home games during the non-conference portion of their schedule. Here is how the schedule will play out…
November 2013:
Friday November 1st: Exhibition against Lewis University at McGrath-Phillips Arena in Lincoln Park
Saturday November 9th: Regular season opener VS Grambling State at McGrath-Phillips Arena
Tuesday November 19th at Wisconsin-Milwaukee
CBE Hall of Fame Classic:
Wednesday November 13th and Saturday November 16th at Allstate Arena {opponents to be determined}
Monday November 25th VS Wichita State {in Kansas City, MO}
Tuesday November 26th VS either Brigham Young or Texas {in Kansas City, MO}
December 2013 {home games at Allstate Arena}:
Sunday December 1st VS Oregon State
Friday December 6th VS Arizona State
Thursday December 12th VS Florida Atlantic
Sunday December 15th VS Chicago State
Wednesday December 18th VS Houston Baptist
Sunday December 22nd at Illinois State
Friday December 27th at Northwestern
Tip off times for each game are still being worked out. DePaul will begin it’s conference schedule with the “new” Big East Conference in January. While the exact times and dates are still being arranged, the Demons will play all nine conference foes.
They will begin practice in October with a lot of new faces. Brandon Young, Cleveland Melvin and Jamee Crockett will be the leaders for DePaul with a bunch of new players mixed in. Oliver Purnell is hoping that the upcoming season will finally be the turn around for DePaul that will get them into the postseason for the first time since 2008.
