DePaul basketball is officially back.
The Blue Demons are 9-0 and off to their best start since the 1986-1987 season after beating Texas Tech at home in overtime 65-60 on Wednesday night. After years of wondering about the program and its ability to resurge, the Blue Demons appear to be legit this year and contend for an NCAA Tournament bid.
DePaul rallied in the second half and managed to send the game into overtime before outscoring the Red Raiders 12-7 in the extra period. Jalen Coleman-Lands finished with 18 points, including 8 in overtime to give the Blue Demons the upset win.
Following the game, the Blue Demons celebrated their best start since 1986 in a fun way:
9-0.
We are Chicago.

The 9-0 start is not only big for the program but the city of Chicago. It’s been rare for the city to have a college basketball team to root for throughout the year and in an NCAA Tournament outside of Northwestern making the tournament in 2017 and then Loyola’s miracle Final Four run in 2018.
The Blue Demons are legit and Chicago should be excited.
