Derrick Rose Clutch in Comeback Win

The Chicago Bulls trailed by 15 in the third quarter against the Milwaukee Bucks.

That is until Derrick Rose almost seemed to once again decide that his Bulls were not losing this game.

Rose almost seemed to single-handedly bring the Bulls back— sparking a 12-0 run.  It was only a matter of time before Rose finished off the Bucks.  He made three field goals in the final two minutes and dished out two of his career-high 17 assists to put down the deer once and for all.

In addition to his 17 dimes, Rose only had two turnovers.  He went 12-for-12 from the line and finished with 30 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the floor.

If there is any doubt left that Derrick is the front-runner for the MVP award, it was answered in this weekend.

While he struggled shooting the ball in last night’s game versus the Memphis Grizzlies, he answered the call and put the game just out-of-reach with an and-one lay-up.

And once again, on Saturday night, Rose refused to let the Bulls falter.  Derrick rose to the occasion (no pun intended) in key moments of the game— all while putting on a show for hundreds of enchanted traveling Bulls’ fans who made the trip north of the Illinois-Wisconsin border.

Saturday night’s final score:

Chicago Bulls – 95

Milwaukee Bucks – 87

I feel like he needed more of those 15,16,17 assist game to solidify a legitimate MVP award. If it were in the era’s of the 50’s,60’s,70’s and even the 80’s I feel like a Kevin Love would have won the award. But Minnesota is not even on God’s list of miracle’s to make the playoffs.

To me, the MVP award is given more upon the basis of ‘which player is responsible for giving his team the most wins.’ The MVP award is, after all, a regular season award. And value in the regular season is most measurable by winning. It takes some cognitive effort to figure out, but from what I can tell it is a two-man race between Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard. I think Kevin Love just doesn’t have the teammates to win that type of award. If you don’t have guys good enough to produce many wins, then you most likely aren’t going to be in any position to rack up wins for your team on the scale of a Rose, Howard, or Nowitzki. Same can be said for a guy like James, who has Wade. The Heat would have won more than their fair share of games with Wade running the show. Same with Gasol for Bryant, and Westbrook for Durant.
