Former Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has thrown his last hoop as he made his retirement official early on before the 2024-2025 season. To commemorate his career, particularly his time and contribution to the history of the Bulls franchise, Rose sat with fellow former Bull Joakim Noah in a sit-down documentary/interview that will play on the official YouTube of the Chicago Bulls.
Titled “Memory Lane,” the video would have the two Bulls legends share and talk about moments and experiences they had throughout their careers. Their topics of discussion would be various topics from his “Pooh” nickname, to how he became a meme and other heartfelt topics.
Derrick Rose began his NBA career with the Bulls when he became the first overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He played for the Bulls until 2016 and has contributed to the history of the franchise. He has since then moved to multiple teams such as the New York Knicks, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Detroit Pistons, and the Memphis Grizzlies, where he last played until the 2023-2024 season.
Rose first made NBA history by becoming the youngest MVP in the league’s history at the age of 22, in 2011. Prior to that, he won the Rookie of The Year for the 2008-2009 season. He was also a three-time NBA All-Star.
Throughout his entire career, Rose logged 12,573 points (an average of 17.4 points per game), 2,324 rebounds (3.2 per game, and 3,770 assists (5.2 per game). He retired at the age of 36.
Derrick Rose: A Candidate for Hall of Fame?
Since announcing his retirement, talks about his induction to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame have been going around as people from within the industry shared their insights on the topic of granting the prestigious recognition to Derrick Rose.
For three-time Sixth Man of The Year Lou Williams, Rose more than deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame for his skill, experience, and contribution to his team and the sport.
“No one has had the impact from the point guard position since A.I. before that,” Williams said. “It’s A.I., Derrick Rose, Steph Curry.”
“It was (Allen Iverson), Derrick Rose, and Steph Curry.”

However, some are doubtful if Rose has enough stuff under his name to be granted the honor. For former Houston Rockets forward Chandler Parsons, Rose may fall short on longevity and resume.
“I think longevity and health, that’s going to matter and that’s going to hurt him,” Parsons said. “There’s a lot of other guys with kind of more accolades, more All-Stars, better resumes that aren’t in. But I wouldn’t be mad if he was.”
