Derrick Rose has been named one of the 16 finalists for the USA Men’s National Basketball World Cup Team roster. The finalists were officially announced earlier this morning after the completion of a five day training camp in Las Vegas.
The final 12-man roster will be named sometime after the upcoming sessions in Chicago.
The team will now prepare for the World Cup with training sessions beginning August 14 in Chicago, including an exhibition game vs. Brasil on August 15. Along with the team training, Nike will host the World Basketball Festival in Chicago that weekend.
Joining Rose as a finalist is fellow Chicago native Anthony Davis who was an Olympic gold medalist in 2012. Davis is a rising superstar in the NBA and gives Chicago another home grown basketball talent that is making a name for himself.
