Derrick Rose will be the first Chicago Bulls All-Star starter since Michael Jordan in 1998, the NBA announced today. The NBA totaled all the votes from the past several weeks, and Rose finished number two in guards behind Miami’s Dwyane Wade.
Last season Rose was named an alternate through coaches voting.
Rose trailed Boston point guard Rajon Rondo throughout most of the voting. But his stellar play, and MVP like performances helped Rose get votes outside of the city of Chicago. When the fourth batch of votes were released, Rose passed Rondo and eventually earned the starter spot.
Joining Wade and Rose for the Eastern Conference team is Amare Stoudemire (Knicks) at forward, Dwight Howard (Magic) at Center, and LeBron James (Heat) at forward.
The Western Conference starters include Kobe Bryant (Lakers), Yao Ming (Rockets), Kevin Durant (Thunder), Carmelo Anthony (Nuggets), and Chris Paul (Hornets). Yes, you read that right. Yao Ming was voted a All-Star starter, despite missing a majority of the season. It pays to have a country like China have your back in voting.

Amazing! So happy about this!
I am proud as well. I voted a couple times, glad it paid off.
