Derrick Rose could be returning to Chicago in 2019. Well, maybe.
The point guard is set to be a free agent following the conclusion of the 2018-19 NBA season and there has been some talk of him returning home to Chicago for a second stint. It may sound crazy at first, especially with how the relationship between Rose and the Bulls ended but is it really out of the picture?
Rose’s agent B.J. Armstrong doesn’t think so.
Armstrong appeared on 670 The Score Monday morning and discussed the future for Rose. He said the point guard is open to returning home:
“I think we’re going to look at everything, we want to look at the situation,” Armstrong said. “There isn’t a situation we would not look at because Derrick is still a very capable player. We’ll see what the Bulls have.
“There’s no secret, there’s no doubt that in his heart, Chicago will always be there. We’ll see. I don’t know what the Bulls are going to do at this particular time. … If it presented itself, we’d be open to that conversation. We’ll find out in due time.”

Rose became the youngest player to win the NBA MVP award back in 2011, helping get the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals. The following year is when things went bad.
During the first game of the 2012 NBA Playoffs, Rose landed awkwardly on a drive to the basket with Chicago up big on the Indiana Pacers late. It was revealed that he tore his ACL and he was never the same.
The Bulls eventually moved on from Rose, trading him to the New York Knicks in 2016.
Chicago could use a veteran point guard as they continue their rebuild going into 2019-20. They finished with the fourth-worst record in the league but have a chance at landing a Top 3 pick come June’s draft.
For now it seems like a little talk, but it’s something to monitor moving forward.
