The Chicago Cubs are getting some much-needed help back at the top of the lineup.
Outfielder Dexter Fowler is set to be activated from the DL on Friday as the Cubs will open up a three-game series in Milwaukee. Fowler has been out for a month with a hamstring injury.
Iowa Cubs’ reporter Tommy Birch reported the news:
Fowler said he was leaving Des Moines tonight or either tomorrow. Either way, he anticipated being up Friday. #Cubs #MiLB

Fowler: "I'm ready to go. It's been four weeks. It's about time." #Cubs #MiLB

The Cubs have struggled at the top of the order without Fowler as Ben Zobrist, Tommy La Stella and Javier Baez are among those who batted leadoff with Fowler out. It also impacted the middle of the order as Zobrist’s bat was at the top.
Coming off a 4-2 road trip against two potential playoff teams right out of the All-Star break is promising for the Cubs. They will end April playing 3 in Milwaukee, then 4 in Chicago with 2 at US Cellular Field and 2 at Wrigley Field.
Then the Mariners come to town for a three-game set in the final three days of the month.
Fowler is slashing .290/.398/.483 on the season.
