The Preseason Amway Coaches’ Poll came out the other day and eight of the 14 Big 10 schools received votes. Four schools in the top 25 and two in the top 10.
Back-to-back Big 10 conference champion Ohio State ranks sixth to start the season. Ohio State had a perfect season going last year with National Title hopes until they lost in the Big 10 Championship game to Michigan State. They then went on to lose to Clemson in the Discover Orange Bowl.
Michigan State had a very impressive year last season only losing once to Notre Dame. They went on to beat Ohio State in the Big 10 Championship and followed that up with beating Stanford in the Rose Bowl. Michigan State starts this season out eighth in the preseason rankings.
Wisconsin, who went 9-4 last season losing to South Carolina in the Capitol One Bowl, starts 2014 ranked fourteenth in the nation. Nebraska is also in the top 25, they rank twenty-second after going 9-4 in 2013 and beating Georgia in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl.
Others that received votes in the 2014 Preseason Amway Coaches’ Poll are Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Northwestern.
