With Eloy Jimenez back, what does this mean for Chicago?
After a two and a half month absence, White Sox outfielder, Eloy Jimenez, finally makes his long-awaited return into the White Sox dugout
Yesterday, there were two words that Jimenez said that really resonated with me. “I’m back.“
First game back, he goes 2-5 with a run and 3 RBIs with the addition of hitting a homer. For Eloy Jimenez, that’s just an average game. This can only mean one thing: Jimenez is going to have more games like this to come.
Eloy’s career batting average is .267. He’s hit 57 dingers in only 245 games. That’s 1 in nearly 4.3 games he homers. However, that’s not what I’m trying to get at. He totals for 251 hits in those 245, which puts him at over a hit per game. Statistically, he is going to get a hit each game. He is an absolute threat against opposing pitchers. A hitting machine. With the way the White Sox are playing, they need a boost. That boost is going to be Eloy Jimenez.
Last year, they were AL Central Winners. That resulted in them losing to the Astros in the ALDS. The Astros eventually became the AL Pennant winner, but were crushed by the Braves in the World Series. The Sox lost to the AL Pennant Winner. How does this not make them a contender? With Eloy back, this gives Chicago the flare they’ve been looking for.
With the All-Star break coming up, that gives a massive momentum push for Chicago to get Eloy in the shape he needs to be in.
Overall, Eloy Jimenez has got what it takes to help them go to make a solid playoff run, and even to the World Series.
We can only imagine the things he will do this season.
