The Fire’s U.S. Open Cup match has been rescheduled, pending opponent.
- Should the Seattle Sounders U-23’s defeat Charlotte, the match will still be played on Tuesday, May 28th, at Toyota Park.
- However, if Charlotte wins, the match will be played on Wednesday, not Tuesday, on the 29th of May on the road.
- Victor Pineda has been recalled to the United States U-20 team for FIFA U-20 World Cup preparation.
- Sean Johnson was recalled to the United States Men’s National Team for World Cup Qualifying and will not be available for the Open Cup match.
Also of note, Dominic Oduro’s five goals in his first season in Columbus is just one short of the current Fire’s combined total of six, while all the Fire received in the trade was the inconsistent play of Dilly Duka and the lack of interest in joining the team from the recently retired Robbie Rogers, who may seek to come out of retirement so long as it is not with the Fire.
