The Fire officially re-signed Midfielder Pavel Pardo on Wednesday, a move that has been anticipated for months. Pardo, the second-most capped player in Mexican National team history, was acquired by the Fire midway through last season and made his debut in a home game versus the Philadelphia Union. He went on to score in that game, a 1-1 draw.
Pardo, along with fellow mid-season acquisition Sebastian Grazzini, a good stretch from Marco Pappa, and the emergence of Dominic Oduro as one of the league’s elite strikers helped push the team to within two points of the post-season, ultimateely being beat out by the New York Red Bulls for the 4th wild card.
Pardo and the Fire report to Ave Maria, Florida on Friday for training.
