Mac Jones was taken 4 spots after Fields at pick 15 in the 2021 NFL Draft. Jones, the last quarterback taken in the first round last year, arguably had the best rookie season of those five quarterbacks, leading the Patriots to a postseason appearance. Fields will have a chance to face Jones on Monday Night Football.
The Bears will have plenty of time to prepare for this matchup, as the Bears’ previous game will be the Thursday before against the Commanders. The last time the Bears beat Bill Belichick was in his first season with the Patriots in 2000. Tom Brady was still a rookie watching on the sidelines as the Bears won 24-17.
