MLB and the Baltimore Orioles released statements on the passing of Brian Matusz
Both MLB and the Baltimore Orioles released statements on the passing of Brian Matusz. MLB said that they were devastated to learn of his passing. Baltimore described him as a staple in the clubhouse, a beloved member of the community who took the time to connect with others, and as a cherished teammate who always had a smile on his face.
Brian Matusz’s last MLB game came as a member of the Chicago Cubs
Through eight big league seasons, Brian Matusz made one MLB appearance outside of the Orioles organization. That outing came with the Cubs in 2016. It wasn’t a great outing for Mausz, who gave up six earned runs including three home runs, but Chicago mounted an incredible comeback where they scored three runs in the ninth inning to tie the game and eventually won in the 12th inning off a Jon Lester walk-off bunt.

Still can’t believe this. Few players embraced the Orioles and larger community like Brian did. The Buck years were some of my favorite ones with players around my age including Brian. https://t.co/YdJepWZzRh
