Despite his hot play this season, Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo still finds himself fifth among NL first basemen in the latest All-Star Game voting numbers. The numbers were released today by MLB and have Rizzo behind Paul Goldschmidt, Adrian Gonzalez, Joey Votto and Matt Adams.
Yes, Matt Adams. Rizzo trails Goldschmidt by more than 3 million votes, which is reasonable considering the year Goldschmidt is having in Arizona. We can’t imagine the NL coaching staff leaving Rizzo off the roster, so don’t panic too much Cubs fans.

The Cubs also have a few other players in the running. Shortstop Starlin Castro is fourth behind Johnny Peralta, Brandon Crawford and Troy Tulowitzki as Starlin trails by 4 million votes. Then there is Miguel Montero who is fifth among catchers trailing Buster Posey by 5 million votes.
Cubs rookie phenom Kris Bryant is also making some noise in the voting. Bryant’s hot start has him third in voting among third basemen trailing Matt Carpenter of the St. Louis Cardinals by a little more than 2 million votes.
Voting ends July 2 at 11:59 p.m. E.T. and you can cast your vote here. We have a lot of work to do Cubs fans.
