1st Round, 10 overall (from Philadelphia ) OT Darnell Wright, Tennessee
After trading back one spot, the Chicago Bears seemingly gave the Philadelphia Eagles access to draft Jalen Carter. Many thought Chicago would be a good landing spot for Carter, with all their defensive line needs, but it was obvious they wanted to bolster the offensive line as early as they could in a weak tackle class.
Darnell Wright was one of my favorites, if not my favorite tackle in the entire draft. He was close with Paris Johnson Jr. in my opinion, and when he was drafted at six, Wright became the top target for Chicago. Many analysts loved this selection, and a few even said he could end up being the best player in the draft.
I had no problems with this pick, whatsoever. Wright mostly projects as a right tackle and that’s where he’ll probably end up in the Chicago Bears offense. Poles hit it right on the nose with this one, and I gave it a high grade accordingly.
Grade: A-
