2nd Round, 53 overall (from Baltimore) DT Gervon Dexter Sr. / Florida
The need for defensive line help was addressed early as well, as the Chicago Bears selected Gervon Dexter Sr. from the University of Florida.
Dexter is an intriguing prospect, with raw athleticism and insane size, he has the potential to be great. I believe his ceiling is quite high, but he’s a project who will absolutely take some time to develop. For a Chicago Bear defense that was 31st in run defense last year, Dexter will immediately provide some relief.
While I think he went a little earlier than I had projected, Dexter fits an obvious area of need. There was plenty of Pre-Draft interest from the Bears, so it was shocking to see his name come across the screen at pick 53. Solid selection.
