QB Caleb Williams, USC (Round 1, Pick 1)
Have the Chicago Bears finally found their franchise quarterback?
That’s a question that’s been asked for generations. Caleb Williams is the next contestant in line, and I believe his rookie season was solid enough to warrant some hope amongst fans. Throwing for just over 3,500 yards and 20 touchdowns, Williams provided some spark to a fanbase and team that needed it. The week 18 victory in Green Bay was a great way to head into next season with confidence.
Fans were often critical of Williams during the teams’ 10-game losing streak, and rightfully so. I do feel some fail to remember that rookie QB’s need time to develop, especially when entering a situation like this, with so many moving parts in the middle of the season. There certainly wasn’t a lack of highlight reel throws, like the one last week to his rookie counterpart Rome Odunze.
Maybe the biggest throw on that game winning drive from Caleb Williams.

Williams had many “welcome to the NFL” moments, and at times looked a little gun-shy. Pocket presence will likely be a point of emphasis this offseason for Caleb as he works to improve that aspect of his game in the future. He does need to manage this offense at a higher level in order to keep progressing, as their just wasn’t enough points on the board this entire season.
However, he didn’t turn the ball over much at all (6 INT’s), which is always a good sign from a rookie quarterback.
All in all, Williams had a successful rookie campaign by our standards. More wins will need to follow next season, and if the Chicago Bears nail this head coaching hire, it will make everything a heck of a lot easier for Caleb going forward.
