OT Kiran Amegadjie, Yale (Round 3, Pick 75)
The Bears needed offensive line help coming into this draft, and Poles made sure to address it after the first round. Kiran Amegadjie was a three-year starer at Yale during his collegiate career, proving he could play all around the offensive line.
Amegadjie is truly still too raw to be seeing a lot of snaps, and unfortunately the Bears needed to start him a few weeks ago against one of the hottest teams in the NFL. The Minnesota Vikings took full advantage of that as Amegadjie was beaten off the edge multiple times, and took some costly penalties. A tough ask from this coaching staff in a rough environment against a top tier defense.
While I like Amegadjie’s potential because of his size and length, I do think the Bears could’ve gone in another direction, selecting someone like Delmar Glaze who’s proven to be a great add for the Raiders.
It’s too early to tell. I believe Kiran was put in an awful spot by this coaching staff, and he could turn it around in year two after having a full offseason and pre-season, which he missed this past rookie campaign.
