P Tory Taylor, Iowa (Round 4, Pick 122)
At the time, Chicago Bears fans were a little confused by the selection of a punter at this stage in the draft. Tory Taylor is an absolute stud at the position, but like I mentioned earlier, other places on this roster could use more talent.
Have to say, Taylor has impressed in year one like many thought he would. Obviously, the Bears hope that going forward he won’t be needed as much as he was this year. Taylor was ranked 2nd in the NFL in overall punts, with 82 of those suckers, after Caleb Williams infamously told him he ‘wouldn’t be needed’ much.
But he quietly had a beginning to his career. He ranked in the top 12 of punters ranked by pEPA (shown below) and is above some other pretty good punters.

This past season, Taylor also broke the Bears franchise record for net (41.6 yards) and gross (47.7) punting average. At this point, he is about the least of their worries, and I really don’t mind this pick going forward. A great punter can win you games, hopefully he continues to progress.
Grade: B+
