The Chicago Bulls head down to Memphis to play the Grizzlies. Rose was out and CJ Watson was back after missing two weeks with a strained elbow. The Bulls dominated the Grizzlies in their last meeting 104-64. This was a tale of two very different games.
Derrick Rose was dressed for the game, but the staff was motivated to give him the game off with his toe still very tender. The last time Derrick played in Memphis, he scored his first career triple-double in front of a semi-home crowd, after being a local star for the University of Memphis.
The Bulls had no answer for Rudy Gay.Gay scored 15 points, and played as a good diversion for the most part. He did turn the ball over 5 times, but the Bulls had no transition game, failing to convert turn overs into fast break opportunities.
After a 27 point deficit, the Bulls chipped away and came within 9 points with 8 minutes left in the game. Shots started falling short, and no player could string together any consistent offense for the Bulls. The team went 1-12 from beyond the arc and had no luck stretching the floor all afternoon long.
Luol Deng had a team high, 20 and CJ Watson added 17 in his return back to the line-up. Taj Gibson’s 16 points were key to the Bulls short-falling comeback.
The Bulls lose to the Memphis Grizzlies, 102-86 and drop to 12-3 for the year.
Next Game: Tuesday back at the United Center to face the Phoenix Suns. Tip off at 7:00PM.
