After getting back in the win column Thursday night in Columbus, the Blackhawks traveled to Dallas Saturday to take on the Stars. After a few low scoring games for the Hawks, they exploded tonight in a blow out of the Stars.
The Blackhawks wasted no time to build a comfortable lead. Halfway through the first period, Jonathan Toews redirected a shot from Nick Leddy and have the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Just over a minute later, Toews found a lose puck in front of the net and got a tap in goal, extending the Hawks lead, 2-0. After failing to capitalize on a power play, the Hawks were able to add another goal before the end of the period. After a strong drive to the net by Viktor Stalberg, Leddy was able to find the back of net. Hawks led 3-0 after the first.
The Hawks picked up right where they left off in the second. They scored another three goals, including two from Marian Hossa. With a 6-0 lead in the third, Duncan Keith added a goal before the Stars finally got one past Corey Crawford. Too add some more style points to the dominating victory, Patrick Kane scored on a sweet spin-o-rama goal. Hawks won 8-1.
Three Stars:
3. Chi; RW Patrick Kane: 1G, 2A, 3P, 3SOG
2. Chi; RW Marian Hossa: 2G, 2P, 4SOG
1. Chi; C Jonathan Toews: 2G, 1A, 3P, 3SOG
What’s next: The Hawks continue their road trip Monday night in Colorado. Should be an intense game after the Avalanche snapped the Hawks point streak last Friday. Puck drop set for 8:00 PM.
