The IceHogs returned last night after a short Holiday break with new Captain. It was announced during the starting lineup that the team was now being Captained by Jake Dowell. Previous Captain, Brandon Mashinter, has been in Chicago with the Blackhawks since being recalled in early November.
The game started out slowly, with no one scoring during the first period. The second period saw a goal from both Rockford and Milwaukee and the third period, like the first, was scoreless. Regulation game time ended with the score still tied, sending it into Overtime. As the time on the clock ticked away, neither team was able to find the back of the net. Going into the Shootout, the IceHogs were unable to get the puck past Admiral’s netminder, Marek Mazanec. While Milwaukee’s Fiala & Gaudreau, appeared to easily beat Rockford’s Michael Leighton.
Missing from the game was IceHogs’ forward, Ryan Hartman. Hartman received a 3 game suspension from the AHL for a illegal head check during the game on December 21st.
The IceHogs’ next home game is on Wednesday December 30th, Youth Jersey Night.
