It was an action packed night in Rockford last night at the IceHogs game. The Hogs’ hosted the San Jose Barracuda for the first time this season. The Hogs also honored Stanley Cup Champion and former Chicago Blackhawks & IceHogs forward, Bryan Bickell. Bickell played with the IceHogs for a total of 227 games between the years 2007-10 & 2015-16. During his career, he also played a total of 395 games in the NHL. Bickell retired last year after being diagnosed with MS.
The IceHogs also held their Annual Jersey Auction last night. This year’s theme was Hawaiian Night, Tiki Hammy and tropical flowers & leaves adorned the brightly colored orange & grey jerseys. Portions of the proceeds will benefit the Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation, the MS Society – Greater Illinois Chapter and other local charities.
The IceHogs also welcomed back former IceHogs & fan favorite, Brandon Mashinter, with a brief recognition during the game. Mashinter is currently playing with the Barracuda.
The game itself was not without drama. The first period ended with the score tied 1-1. Second period saw the IceHogs flounder and unable to answer back to 2 goals scored by the Barracuda. But in the 3rd period, the IceHogs awoke from their 2nd period snooze, scoring 4 goals within a span 4 minutes. The Barracuda were unable to recover and the IceHogs got the W.
