The IceHogs hosted the Utica Comets for the very first time in Rockford last night, treating the fans to a Shutout Win 3-0. Rockford regained the 2nd place spot in the Western Division of the AHL with last night’s win.
Scott Darling led the standoff, stopping all 30 shots Utica sent his way. Adam Clendening was awarded the #1 Star of the Game for his 2 goal assists in the game. Goals for the IceHogs last night were by Klas Dahlbeck, Garret Ross and Pierre-Cedric Labrie.
It was Pink in the Ring night, promoting Breast Cancer awareness and the IceHogs players wore special pink jerseys that were auctioned off during the game. In addition to the pink ice, the arena was tastefully decorated with pink banners & ribbons by the Booster Club. Fans were handed out pink glow sticks as they entered the arena and the pink sticks could be seen sparkling in the stands throughout the game. Besides the pink glow sticks, fans could be seen wearing pink jerseys, shirts, hats, hair, scarves, etc.
The AHL All-Star Classic starts tonight in Utica, NY with the Skills Competition and concludes tomorrow night with the All-Star Game itself. IceHogs player, Mark McNeill(C), was added to the AHL All-Star Roster earlier this week. McNeill replaces Rockford’s Joakim Nordstrom, who is currently recalled to the Chicago Blackhawks. Also on the All-Star Roster is Rockford’s T.J.Brennan(D), who was named to the Starting Line-up for the West Division.
