Wow, what an exciting game last night in Rockford. The IceHogs hosted their I-90 Rivals, the Chicago Wolves and soundly topped them, 5-2. The game was filled with non-stop aggressive play action filled with frequent hard hits, fast paced skating, a few scrums, a couple of fights and very few penalty calls. Oh and a Gordy Howe. Rockford’s Captain, Jake Dowell, earned himself that dubious honor with a goal, a assist and a fight.
The stands were packed with 6053 fans for a mid-week game. It was Youth Jersey Night and with most kids off school for the holidays, the fans came by the car loads. The first 1000 kids in the doors were given special free IceHogs jerseys.
