The Rockford IceHog’s roster for this new season contains quite a few new faces and the Learning Curve appears to be living large yet within the ranks. But, it’s early in the season and the boys just need to settle down a bit & gel into a cohesive unit. Needless to say though, they got the job done last night against the Iowa Wild, Winning 3-2. IceHogs’ Tanner Kero was on fire, netting himself two goals & one assist and earned the title of #1 Star of the Game. IceHogs also out-shot the Wild, 39 to 18.
Newly named team Captain, Brandon Mashinter, put the IceHogs on the scoreboard early in the 2nd period. His tap to the puck past Iowa’s goaltender, Jeremy Smith, fell short, resulting in the puck stopping right on top of the line into the goal. Both Mashinter & Smith dueled it out by extending their sticks to their very tips trying to reach the puck first. Mashinter won the duel and scored the goal. He also earned the title of #2 Star of the Game. Smith was named the #3 Star.
IceHogs next home game is Friday, October 23, 2015 at the BMO Harris Bank Centre in Rockford. Puck drops at 7:05pm.
