Illinois head coach Bruce Weber has made a surprising move, offering Michael Orris from Crete Monee High School.
After Michael Orris took a campus visit during the week, Weber offered the 2012 point guard a scholarship.
Orris is a 6’2″, 180 pounder, who the Illinois staff felt has proved enough to gain a scholarship after following his progress for several months now.Orris is not widely known, as his only offer at this point is from Illinois.
Orris is also talking to Butler, Creighton, Drake, Green Bay, Loyola (IL), Nevada, UIC, and William & Mary. While excited about the offer, Orris says he plans to take several other visits to see what other programs think before making a final decision.
Neither Scout nor Rivals have a ranking on Orris. His talent has not been said to be at a supreme level, but is still thought of as a top point-guard in Illinois and a good floor general, something Illinois has been lacking since the departure of Chester Frazier.
