Last Friday, it was announced that Greg Nord, the TE coach and recruiting coordinator, would be leaving the University of Illinois for Kentucky—his alma mater.
“We understand the allure of going home,” Zook said. “We wish him well and we’re moving forward.”
Nord was Illinois’ TE coach for only six months, but decided it was best for him to leave and is now expected to take over as the TE coach at Kentucky.
Now, Illinois is working hard to find the best possible fit for a completely rejuvenated staff.
According to my source, Illinois is looking for a new TE coach with experience being its main focus.
Even more specifically, they are searching for someone with experience in a pro-style offense, because that is the way Petrino likes his offense ran.
Illinois has reached out to several veteran coaches, but no offers have been made yet.
They are hoping to have their new coach by July 15.
