ChiCitySports was lucky enough to catch up with Brian from GameAthlete.Net for a quick interview. GameAthlete.Net is a sports gaming site for serious sports gamers. If you enjoy gaming, you NEED to give this site a look. Onto the interview…
When did you start the site up?
GameAthlete was created in 2010.
Where did you get the idea to start your website?
I thought about creating GameAthlete a few years ago while playing Madden online. I thought that it would be cool to have a website that hosted online leagues and awarded players for their game stats.
What would you say the pros are of your site? The cons?
Pro’s:
Our money leagues & tournaments offer multiple opportunities to win cash prizes. GameAthlete is one of the first online sites to award the winners along with the statistical leaders of our leagues. Offering cash prizes for statistical categories gives players more than one chance to win, this is something that I’m sure our players appreciate.
Great sports video game reviews.
We have a very fun & friendly community that’s growing fast.
Con’s: We’re less than 2 years old and still growing.
Do you have any important or big upcoming plans for the site in the near future?
I’m always looking and planning for the future, in the fourth quarter of this year I am planning a pretty important marketing campaign. I’d like for the serious sports gamers to know that we exist!
We’ve discussed the site, tell us about you, hobbies, etc.
I’m 32 years old & a father of two very energetic children. I’m a very competitive person. I’ve played on a very high level of bball, I was a 6’8 high jumper in high school (yup, that’s a foot above my head), I’m an amateur boxer and currently a flag football weekend warrior. Sports is a very important part of my life, I play sports for the exercise and to satisfy my hunger for competition. When I’m not playing sports or video games I love playing chess or recording & mixing music.
Any users, readers you want to shout out from your site?
I’d like to give a shout out to my other admin Robert Wright. He’s currently serving our country in Afghanistan. I promised him that I’d KO him in Fight Night Champion as soon as he returns
