Chicago Cubs ace Jake Arrieta wins Pitcher of the Month
Jake Arrieta is the National League Pitcher of the Month, again.
After going 5-0 with a 1.00 ERA and 0.78 WHIP, Arrieta was named the NL Pitcher of the Month for April on Monday. The right-hander picked up right where he left off his 2015 season, dominating hitters.
Arrieta’s month included his second no-hitter in nine starts as he accomplished the feat against the Cincinnati Reds on April 21st.

His 1.00 ERA is third among pitchers in the big leagues, trailing only Detroit’s Jordan Zimmerman and teammate Jason Hammel going into Monday’s series opener against Pittsburgh.
Arrieta has now won the award three-straight months dating back to 2015 when he won it in September and August. He became the first NL pitcher to win it three-straight times. The American League has seen two pitchers accomplish the feat in Pedro Martinez and Johan Santana.
The Cubs are currently in the middle of a small three-game road trip in Pittsburgh. Arrieta is scheduled to pitch Tuesday night against the Pirates in his first start against the NL Central rival since beating them in the NL Wild Card last October.
