Javier Baez has put together an impressive career so far in his time with the Chicago Cubs since his call-up in 2014 and on Sunday, he reached a big milestone for his career.
With the Cubs trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Baez came up to the plate with runners on first and second and a chance to at least tie the game. He did just that and a little more.
Baez launched a two-strike pitch to the opposite field for a three-run homer to give the Cubs a 5-3 lead. It was the 100th career home run for Baez in his 602nd career game. Watch as Baez launches one into the bleachers:
Baez is the third fastest Cubs player to reach 100 home runs doing so in 602 career games. Only Kris Bryant (487) and Ernie Banks (500) did it faster per NBC Sports Chicago’s Christopher Kamka.
