It was just a week ago that the Chicago Cubs took 2-of-3 from the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field before they headed on their 8-game road trip to Cincinnati and Los Angeles. The Cubs got off to a rocky start by being swept in a four-game series against the Reds and then dropped the opener in Los Angeles on Monday night.
But on Tuesday, that five-game losing streak was snapped thanks to Javier Baez.
The infielder had a big night going 4-for-5 with 5 RBI, 2 home runs, 2 runs scored and a double. His first home run of the game got the Cubs on the board, tying the game at 1 in the fifth inning.
It was the sixth inning however that Baez really left his mark on the game as he hit a grand slam to extend the Cubs lead to 7-3:

The grand slam was the fourth of Baez’s career and he continues his big season in 2018. With the big night, Baez joined some elite company in terms of production before the MLB All-Star Game.
Baez becomes the third Cubs player to have 15 doubles, 5 triples, and 15 home runs before the MLB All-Star game joining Ernie Banks (1958) and Billy Williams (1962) according to Christopher Kamka.
The Cubs and Dodgers will continue their series on Wednesday night when Kyle Hendricks opposes Alex Wood.
