Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon responded back at Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers’ “I own you” comment from last season in a win at Soldier Field. The Bears icon appeared on the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” on Wednesday morning and was asked about Rodgers and the Packers.
McMahon fired back with this witty response.
“When I was with the Bears, I owned the Packers,” Jim McMahon said via GMFB.
McMahon, who doesn’t follow football that much anymore, said he hadn’t heard Rodgers’ statement until today. “It’s not surprising, I mean he has owned the Bears,” he said.
McMahon was 12-1 (.923 winning percentage) against the Packers as a Bear. Rodgers has a 22-5 (.815 winning percentage) record against the Bears, including seven straight wins. McMahon gets the nod with the winning percentage.
Beating the Packers is a priority, McMahon said. “If you play here in Chicago, you gotta be able to beat Green Bay, or you’re going to catch a lot of grief,” he said. That’s something the Bears have struggled to do for a few decades now as they have shuffled through quarterbacks while Green Bay has had two hall of famers.
And we Bears fans are sure tired of giving that grief recently.
