The Chicago Blackhawks recent scoring slump has pushed Quenneville to make a few changes in the lineup for Friday’s game against the Predators.
The lines as of Thursday’s practice look like this:
Saad – Toews – DeBrincat
Panik – Schmaltz – Kane
Sharp – Anisimov – Hayden
Bouma – Wingels – Hartman
DeBrincat will be get a shot at the top line on the right side with Saad and Toews. His line mates will be able to open up some space on the ice, hopefully leading up to quality scoring chances. It’s important to note that for most of his junior career DeBrincat played on the left side and center.
Panik will now flank Schmaltz and Kane on the top scoring line. Panik is a bit more skilled than Hartman and essentially fills the same role as a big body to pass the puck off of.
Hayden gets a bump up to the third line. His play as of late on the fourth line has been decent with 1 goal and 3 assists.
Hartman gets a demotion to the fourth line, landing right into Quenneville’s dog house. Penalties have become an issue for Hartman recently, hopefully he can turn it around with some time in the dog house.
This is only the beginning of the Quenneville line blender and if these changes don’t satisfy him in the first period he’ll turn the blender back on. The Blackhawks will look win their second game in the season series against the Predators tonight.
