The Chicago White Sox announced troubling news for the roster ahead of their matchup with the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday evening. On Tuesday, the White Sox lost the first game of their series to the Guardians 1-0 by giving up a walk-off… walk.
Chicago enters their matchup on Wednesday as losers of six straight with a 2-8 overall record. They’re 4.5 games back of the Detroit Tigers for first place in the AL Central.
The Chicago White Sox have bad news for Andrew Benintendi
The White Sox will be without their lead hitter for a significant amount of time. Per an update by Chicago on Wednesday, left fielder Andrew Benintendi has been put on the 10-day injured list for a left adductor strain. The White Sox recalled outfielder Greg Jones from Triple-A.
“Prior to tonight’s game at Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Andrew Benintendi on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 7) with a left adductor strain and recalled outfielder Greg Jones from Class AAA Charlotte,” the White Sox posted on X.

Benintendi has been the best offense on the White Sox to start the season. He leads the team with nine hits and five runs. He’s batting .290/.333/.484 with two home runs and an OBP of .817. He last played against the Detroit Tigers on Sunday.
Greg Jones hasn’t played much in the majors

Many fans on social media didn’t know who Jones was. He doesn’t have much experience in the majors.
Jones is a switch-hitter who made his MLB debut on June 6, 2024, for the Colorado Rockies. The native of Cary, North Carolina, was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 17th round of the 2017 draft but did not sign. He played college baseball at North Carolina Wilmington.
The Tampa Bay Devil Rays drafted Jones in the first round of the 2019 draft. They traded him to the Rockies in 2024 for pitcher Joe Rock. He played in right field for Colorado in six games last season, going 1-for-5 at-bat with one home run, one RBI, and a walk.
The White Sox claimed the 27-year-old off waivers on March 26.
