The High School Basketball season might be over for the state of Illinois but the AAU circuit is just beginning.
This weekend the Spring/Summer AAU Circuit kicks off with events in six different cities for EYBL, UAA and the adidas Gauntlet. Competitions will take place in Dallas, Irving, Washington D.C., Indianapolis and Los Angeles as players showcase their skills for the top college coaches in the country.
To help celebrate the start of the new AAU season, Jordan Brand held an event to help send off local Chicago teams in the right fashion. The event took place on Saturday, April 14th at Foster Park located on the South Side of Chicago.
Foster Park has a special significance not only for its importance in the South Side community but because it was where Jordan and his teammates would host pickup games to stay connected with the community.
The “Homage to Home” event was a send off for four local teams: Mac Irvin Fire, Meanstreets, Team Rose and Young & Reckless as some of Chicago’s best high school players are part of those four programs. It included the teams playing 5-on-5 scrimmage games in front of a packed gym as Jordan Brand showed off some new Air Jordan I colorways, had a t-shirt printer and even a photo backdrop.
