White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu has been named the AL Rookie of the Month for June. In June Abreu hit .313, 10 home runs, 22 RBI and slugged .677 in 25 games. It’s the second time the rookie has won the award, as he was named the winner for the month of April.
Abreu has been a nice surprise for the White Sox this season, giving them stability at the first base position while being the teams best hitter. He currently owns a 16-game hit streak and is on pace to hit 50 home runs this season. The White Sox franchise record for most home runs in a season is 50 set by Albert Belle in 1998.
