Josh Giddey poured in a triple-double, his seventh with the Chicago Bulls, to help lead the team to perhaps its biggest win yet. As they continued to fight for play-in seeding, they earned a win that kept them from falling to the 10th seed on Wednesday night. The Bulls are now one game up on the Miami Heat with two remaining games.
The win also kept them within one game of the Atlanta Hawks for the eighth seed, so it was a monumental victory on numerous levels. Still, Giddey knows things can change in a heartbeat, and he says the Bulls won’t be looking ahead.
Josh Giddey refocuses after key victory over Heat

Josh Giddey had 28 points (on 11/19 shooting), 16 rebounds, 11 assists, and just four turnovers against the Miami Heat. He led the Chicago Bulls in all three categories and added three blocks and two steals. Giddey was +11 in an eight-point win.
The victory ensures that they need to win just one of the two games they have left, which includes matchups with the Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers, to lock in a home game during the play-in tournament. Despite that, Giddey says the Bulls aren’t getting ahead of themselves despite the big win.
Per the Chicago Sun-Times, the guard said, “We knew coming into the game the implications that a win or a loss had. Obviously, happy with the win, but we can’t look too far ahead. We’ve got two games to go. I don’t know how far we can move up or down or what the situation looks like, but we’re trying not to concern ourselves too much with it, playing one game at a time, and we’ll see where we end up after 82 games.”
The win was a major step in avoiding a trip to Miami for the play-in. This is significant because the Heat ended the Bulls’ season in the play-in two years in a row, and both contests were in Miami. Billy Donovan just wants his team to play good basketball, though.
“It’s an advantage if you play well. It’s not an advantage if you don’t play well.” The Bulls can catch the Hawks for the eighth seed, but they’re out of the running for the seventh seed with the Orlando Magic three games up with two to play.
