Gavin Floyd had no hits going into the 7th.
Ted Lilly had no hits going into the 9th.
Fortunately for both sides of town both no hitters were broken up. There is no really much to recap for this game. Gavin Floyd and Ted Lilly were both dominant. Every inning nothing was started. AJ was hit and so was Gordon Beckham. Gavin Floyd reached base via the walk. Floyd allowed a couple of walks, but Derek Lee was thrown out after he reached as was Starlin Castro.
In the 8th Alfonso Soriano doubled to break up Gavin Floyd’s no-hitter. It was then Chad Tracy who knocked in the 1st run of the ball game with an RBI single.
The Sox had their chance in the 9th. After a Juan Pierre single and an Andruw Jones walk it was a balk by Carlos marmol that would have Cubs fans at the edge of their seats. Alexei Struck to give the Sox their first out of the inning. Hot hitting Alex Rios was walked to face even more hot hitting Paul Koneko. Konerko grounded to Derek Lee who threw home to Hill. Hill failed to complete the double play. It was no trouble though for the Cubs has struggling Carlos Quentin popped out to Byrd to end the game.
After 3 games the Sox won the series 2-1 and will face each other in 2 weeks at U.S. Cellular Field.
