It’s clear by now that the Chicago Cubs are ready to be sellers and try to rebuild after dealing Yu Darvish and moving on from both Jon Lester and Kyle Schwarber this offseason. While we may not like it, that’s the sad reality this franchise is currently in.
If the Cubs are going to do this full rebuild then it’s time to start unloading players in order to get back prospects that can help the franchise down the line.
As we continue on through this offseason, there have been rumblings of the franchise potentially moving on from third baseman Kris Bryant. The former MVP has been the hot topic amongst trade rumors lately and on Monday, one club official made his prediction on where he will land.
According to Buster Olney, a club official in the game is predicting that Bryant will end up either in New York with the Mets or with the Toronto Blue Jays:
In the category of informed speculation: I asked one club official not involved in Kris Bryant talks where he thinks the Cubs third baseman will land. His guess is Mets or Jays.

The Mets have been brought up in the past as a suitor for Bryant and appear to be all in under their new ownership. They recently landed Carlos Carrasco and Francisco Lindor, showing that they are ready to start contending now.
The 29-year-old Bryant carries a $19.5 million price tag this season and is coming off a disappointing 2020 season playing in just 34 games.
