The Chicago Bears had a few key players they needed to think about extending this offseason.
The Bears traded for four-time All-Pro Joe Thuney in the final year of his contract. Star cornerback Kyler Gordon entered the offseason the final year of his rookie deal.
The Chicago Bears are giving a record deal

Per ESPN‘s Adam Schefter, the Bears are set to sign Gordon to a contract extension that will make him the highest-paid slot cornerback in the league.
“ESPN source: Bears reached agreement today on a three-year, $40 million extension that includes $31.25 million guaranteed with CB Kyler Gordon,” Schefter posted. “The deal now makes Gordon the NFL’s highest-paid slot corner and contractually ties him to Chicago through the 2028 season.”

Kyler Gordon was GM Ryan Poles’ first draft pick

Gordon was Ryan Poles’ first draft ever draft selection as general manager. He took Gordon with the No. 39 pick in the 2022 draft.
Gordon has appeared in 42 games and started in 34 games in his three-year NFL career. He’s recorded 207 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and five interceptions.
Pro Football Focus gave Gordon a 76.0 overall grade in 2024. He ranked 20th out of 222 cornerbacks. He ranked as the 32nd best cornerback for run defense and 19th for pass coverage.
Gordon, a standout for the Washington Huskies in college, is expected to play an important role in new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen’s scheme.
