Chicago — Pirates Prized Rookie Brad Lincoln (1-2) earned his first Major League win with 7 stellar shutout innings against the hapless Cub bats. For the sixth time in 11 tries the Cubs have scored one run or less and dropped their fourth series in a row.
Andrew Cashner (0-3) suffered his 3rd loss in relief in a week as once again the Cubs defense failed again. Aramis Ramirez’s fielding error in the 8th led to 2 unearned runs, which accounted for the game’s scoring.
Tom Gorzelanny tossed 5 shutout innings in his first start since May 26th. He replaced Carlos Zambrano in the Cubs rotation.
