Manny Machado and the Baltimore Orioles are in Chicago to take on the White Sox for a three-game series that is scheduled to begin on Monday night. It’s his first appearance in the city since trade rumors starter swirling with the Cubs.
While the White Sox and Cubs may both be interested in Machado, it’s been the Northsiders that have been brought up in the latest rumors.
On Monday, Machado addressed the media and was asked about both the Cubs and White Sox. When he was asked about his close friend, Albert Almora Jr., Machado offered an answer that should make Cubs fans very excited.
Manny Machado said of his close friend in Chicago, Albert Almora Jr.: "When we're playing in his backyard growing up, we've always dreamed about playing together someday in the big leagues, put on the same big league uniform, be on the same field, win a World Series together."

Machado and Almora Jr. grew up as best friends near Miami and played baseball together at a few different levels. Almora Jr. even considers Machado as a cousin, signaling how close they really are.
While the idea of both players playing together for a long time is still on their minds, there will be some hurdles to overcome. Baltimore is in prime position to trade Machado as they enter Monday’s game with one of the worst records in baseball and are seemingly out of the playoff race.
Machado is set to be a free agent and the asking price might be too high for the Cubs.
With a few more months until the July trade deadline, the rumors will certainly start to heat up some more. Make sure you check back with ChiCitySports for the latest on Machado, the Cubs and the White Sox.
