After last night’s loss to the New Orleans Saints, it’s become evident that Marc Trestman’s time in Chicago is likely coming to an end. Today, WSCR’s Dan Bernstein has reported that Bears ownership met last night and Trestman is likely fired after this season.
Bernstein also reported his source says Emery’s status is undecided.

This isn’t a shocker seeing how bad the Bears season has gone under Trestman as the team prepares to finish below .500 for the first time since 2009. More importantly, the Bears have finished 8-8 and now below .500 in Trestman’s two seasons following the firing of Lovie Smith at the end of the 2010 season where they went 10-6.
The Tribune’s Rich Campbell posted a transcript of Phil Emery’s interview with WBBM before last nights game discussing the Aaron Kromer situation. Emery was not happy with how Trestman treated the situation, indicating he’s had enough of the coach. You can read the transcript here.
Trestman is gone. Emery indicated that today when he spoke to WBBM.. Don't see any chance of him coming back. #Bears

It’s very likely the front office has made a decision by now to either keep or let Trestman go. It’s going to be a very interesting two weeks in Chicago.

How stupid are the Halas’s? Cutler will now have gotten Kromer, Trestman, Martz, Tice and Turner fired – while STILL not leading any but a single team to the playoffs.
I agree Trestman should go – if only because he clearly advocated for Cutler’s contract extension knowing that even McCown was a better QB. But honestly – throw ALL of em out and start over like Ricketts did.
No better time than the present!
I just read in Science magazine that an amazing discovery has been made in Chicago. It is called the Canadian method for turning Grizzle Bears into Koalas…
