Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett considers himself as one of the best tight ends in the NFL. Bennett may have a good case for that after leading all tight ends with 90 receptions last season.
Since joining the Bears in 2013, Bennett has 192 receptions for 1,999 yards and 13 touchdowns. He needs just one yard to become the fourth tight end in franchise history to achieve 2,000 receiving yards joining Mike Ditka and Emery Moorehead and Desmond Clark.
Martellus Bennett needs 1 more yard to join Ditka, Moorehead & Clark as only TEs in #Bears history with 2,000 career receiving yards.

Despite his impressive receiving numbers, Bennett takes pride in doing the dirty work including blocking. He voiced his opinion on the other top tight ends in the league claiming they don’t block as good as him.
You see Jimmy [Graham]. Jimmy can’t block worth s–t. They get a lot of credit and a lot of love. But Julius Thomas doesn’t block anybody. Antonio Gates doesn’t really block anybody. But they do a great job in the passing game. It all depends on the system that they’re in.
Bennett may have a point. If you watch any Bears game, you will see Bennett is not just a one-dimensional tight end. He does block on running plays and downfield and is considered one of the better blockers on the team. Bennett will meet Gates and The San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football this week.
This might be a case of Bennett not earning the praise he deserves as he is scheduled to hit free agency in 2017.
