It was one hell of a way for Chicago White Sox third baseman Matt Davidson to start the 2018 MLB season.
After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, the White Sox rallied to score 14 unanswered runs as they finally got to Daniel Duffy. Davidson was a big reason for the White Sox’s offensive outburst and he had himself quite the day.
Davidson showed off his power by hitting not one, not two but three home runs on the game.

Davidson’s first home run came in the fourth inning as he hit a solo shot. He hit another solo shot in the fifth and then his third came in the top of the eighth, which was a two-run shot that scored Jose Abreu.
With Davidson’s three home runs, he made some history on Thursday:
.@matt_davidson24 is the 4th player in @MLB history to hit 3 home runs on #OpeningDay, joining Dmitri Young (2005), Tuffy Rhodes (1994) and George Bell (1988). #SoxStats

It wasn’t just Davidson hitting home runs. White Sox teammate Tim Anderson also hit two home runs in the game, including one in the fourth and one in the fifth.
The Royals would score two in the ninth but the White Sox would hold on to win 14-7 and open the season at 1-0. The two teams continue the series on Saturday after a day off on Friday.
