When the Chicago Bears traded up to the No. 2 overall pick to draft former University of North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky, the emotion was mixed.
Fans were upset, like these people at the Bears draft party, but others understood what the Bears were doing.
Sure they gave up some draft picks but a trade on day two of the draft helped the Bears get some picks back from other teams. Some were critical of the pick because this quarterback class was labeled as “poor”.
Now weeks later information about Trubisky’s scouting report has been released and it’s pretty damn interesting.
According to CSN Chicago’s John “Moon” Mullin, two AFC Scouts had Trubisky graded higher than any other quarterback in the last six years. But how high? Well, higher than Jameis Winston, Andrew Luck, Marcus Mariota, Derek Carr, Cam Newton and Russell Wilson.
An NFC scout went on to say this:
“Trubisky is an almost perfect quarterback prospect,” he said. “The Bears should count their lucky stars he only started 13 games because if he was a two-year starter, he goes 1/1 [overall No. 1] without hesitation.”
Now, this doesn’t mean that Trubisky will be great by any means. But it does make Bears fans feel a little better about the pick.
Trubisky participated in Bears rookie minicamp last weekend and will be with the team for workouts in a few days.
Chicago has labeled Mike Glennon as their starter going into 2017 but don’t be shocked if Trubisky challenges him in camp.
Maybe the Chicago Bears made the right move after all.

My NFL GAME PASS comes due every year and each yea I question my sanity on spending the bucks to see my beloved Bears. You see, I have been a Bear fan for 69 years and, living in Costa Rica, I pay for the privilege.
Who knows what caliber of play Trubisky will bring? The pundits said Pace was crazy. Many fans agreed. But like me, in the end, we watch and hope. I have faith that Pace knows what he is doing but, like the Congo monkeys surrounding our home, I hope we do not have a home invasion that destroys it.
Time will tell. Same as it would if he’d stayed another year and was #1.
We’ll be much better (crossed fingers) just getting everyone back that we had last year. devastating injury year.
.500 I think.
