Pitchers and catchers officially reported to Spring Training this past week which means we are just over a month away from actual baseball games counting in the 2018 MLB season.
With that, Bovada has released their odds for over/under win totals on the 2018 season. The defending league champions lead the way as the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers both sit at 96.5.
But the Chicago Cubs aren’t too far behind.
The Cubs come in with the second-highest total in the NL at 94.5 wins this upcoming season. That number was certainly elevated some with the recent acquisition of starter Yu Darvish just a week ago.
The 94.5 wins are also 9 more than the next closest team in the NL Central with Milwaukee sitting at 85.5, St. Louis 84.5, Cincinnati at 73.5 and the Pittsburgh Pirates at 73 for the year.
For the Chicago White Sox, their win total is listed at 68 for the season. They are projected to finish last in the AL Central with the Detroit Tigers who have a projected total of 68.5.
Ahead of the White Sox and Tigers are the AL Central favorites, the Cleveland Indians at 94.5, followed by the Minnesota Twins at 82.5 and Kansas City Royals at 71.5.
The White Sox are entering a key year in their rebuild, expecting to have Yoan Moncada starting on Opening Day as opposed to calling him up mid-year. We will also likely see prospects Eloy Jimenez and Michael Kopech reach the Big Leagues at some point this season.
While we don’t expect them to go out and reach the 80-win mark, the White Sox could push for 70 wins this season and avoid finishing last in the AL Central. They will also be an exciting team to watch with a lot of young talent on that roster and in the farm system.
