The Chicago Fire will be short one option in the midfield for Saturdays game against the Montreal Impact, due to the MLS handing down a one game suspension on defender Wells Thompson.
Thompson was suspended for his challenge on Columbus Crew midfielder Agustin Viana in the 12th minute during last Saturday’s match. Thompson was issued a yellow card on the play during the came, and the decision from the MLS to suspend him came earlier today, the Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced.
A undisclosed fine was also issued to Thompson and will be donated to the charitable partners of MLS W.O.R.K.S as well as the MLS Players Union.
The Fire travel to Montreal to take on the Impact at Stade Saputo at 3:00 p.m. CST on Saturday. You can watch the game on the NBC Sports Network.
